Drought Emergency Response and Contingency Planning Workshop

The impacts of drought are increasing as extreme drought conditions persist year after year. Is your water system adequately prepared to endure these conditions? 

Join Island Health at one of our workshops to learn how to plan for drought and to build resiliency in your drinking water system.

These workshops are open to Vancouver Island residents only.

Emergency Response & Contingency Planning

This introductory level course will help small water system operators write a basic Emergency Response & Contingency Plan (ERCP). Attendees will learn the components of an ERCP, identify the types of emergencies that can impact a water system and apply actions and communication procedures to these emergency scenarios. Attendees will be able to complete a draft version of their ERCP during this course. There are no prerequisite courses or education required for attendance.

Monitoring Your Small Water System

This introductory level course will provide information to small water system operators on how to create a basic “water quality monitoring plan”. Attendees will learn about monitoring drinking water infrastructure, chemical and bacterial parameters to help keep the water system in good working order and quickly identify and correct problems when they arise. We will also discuss best practices and legislative requirements for operations and management of a small water system.

There are no prerequisite courses or education required for attendance.
