Chlorine & UV Disinfection Applications for Small Water Systems

This webinar will focus on the common disinfection technologies used by smaller water systems to meet the treatment objectives outlined in the B.C. Drinking Water Protection Act and Regulations, with an emphasis on ultraviolet (UV) disinfection and chlorination as a dual barrier. Grant will discuss:

  • How each of the technologies works
  • Advantages and disadvantages of each technology
  • Typical equipment involved with each approach
  • Operational best practices, maintenance requirements, and troubleshooting
Grant Robertson, BBA, CWT
Grant has been involved in the water treatment industry for more than 20 years, specializing in small systems and UV disinfection. He is a co-founder and currently serves as the CEO of HomePlus Products Inc., a Kamloops based wholesale distributor of water treatment products. He has a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University and is accredited by the Canadian Water Quality Association as a Certified Water Technician. He has worked extensively with public health authorities and other stakeholders in Western Canada to promote best practices in the application of water treatment technology for small communities and other regulated applications. He has been a guest speaker at a variety of conferences and events for the Interior Health Authority, Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, Island Health Authority, Alberta Health Services, the Canadian Water Quality Association, the Small Water Users Association of B.C., the B.C. Institute of Technology, and more. He currently serves on the Educations Committee of the Canadian Water Quality Association.
