Introduction to Water Quality Monitoring
Water quality monitoring is a legislative requirement for permitted water supply systems under the BC Drinking Water Protection Act and Regulation. This presentation will provide an introduction to water quality monitoring of your small water system and will focus on why it is important to monitor the water quality, the legislative requirements and the best practices for operations and management of a small water supply system.
Sylvia Wong
Sylvia is an Environmental Health Officer with a Bachelor of Science degree and a Bachelor of Technology degree in Environmental Health. She is a Certified Public Health Inspector with 12 years of experience working in Interior Health. Currently, she is a small water systems specialist with the Interior Health’s Drinking Water Program. She has been with the Drinking Water Program for over 2 years. As a small water systems specialist, Sylvia engages with water suppliers as well as various stakeholders on topics about source water, water treatment, water quality monitoring, water system operations, drinking water regulations, and emergency management. She also provides support (including enforcement) and technical advice to a team of Drinking Water Officers who are responsible for the inspection of small water systems.
