Traditional and New Filtration Technologies for Turbidity Removal in Small Water Systems

Small water systems in British Columbia must meet the province's targets for turbidity reduction to ensure safe and aesthetically pleasing water is delivered to water users and to ensure that disinfection objectives can be reliably achieved.  Most technologies used by larger municipal systems are out of the reach of small water systems due to scale, cost, and complexity.  In this webinar, we will explore the traditional and new filtration technologies available to small water systems, to address year-round, seasonal, and event based (flooding/landslides) turbidity issues.  We will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each, how to select the best options for your system, best practices for installation and operation, and provide practical tips to reduce the cost of consumables.

Webinar Objectives:

Introduction to traditional and new filtration technologies

Technologies and compatibility to small water systems needs and affordability

Operational challenges in filtration given seasonal variability in water quality issues

Best practices for installation, operations and maintenance
